Mozambique
Mozambique is in the process of recovering from a troubled past. It was virtually destroyed by the civil war which ended in 1992, and cyclones, droughts, devastating floods and outbreaks of famine have left it one of the poorest countries in the world. Now for the first time in almost two decades there is stability and peace, which has produced a feeling of optimism and ambitious plans for development and growth.
Travellers are drawn to this beautiful country by the stunning 2,700 km coastline and warm Indian Ocean waters. The marine ecosystems are extremely rich, with extensive coral reefs (some stretching over 700km) - this is diving heaven!
Enjoy incredible game fishing and marine game viewing. If you want to dive alongside a majestic whale shark or observe the migratory beach landing of the massive Leatherback Turtle, you've come to the right place.
However, there is much more to Mozambique than the ocean. Inland you will discover diverse, beautiful landscapes and a fascinating culture. Two of Africa’s most famous rivers, the Zambezi and the Limpopo, run through the country, and the wetlands provide superb bird watching. A rich history and culture are apparent everywhere you visit.
